Activewear sizing is genuinely confusing, and leggings are the worst offender. This guide shows you how to measure yourself once, properly, so you can order with confidence.
Read this first: our sizes run small
Our items are made to international sizing, which runs about one size smaller than US high-street sizing. If you normally wear a US Medium, you will most likely want a Large from us.
If you are between two sizes, size up. Leggings that are slightly loose can still be worn. Leggings that are too tight roll down at the waist, go sheer when you bend, and dig in at the hips.
Size chart
These are body measurements — measure yourself, not a garment. Find the row your waist and hip both fall into. If they fall into different rows, go with your hip measurement.
| Our size | US size | Waist | Hips |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | US XS (0–2) | 24–28″ / 61–71cm | 30–35″ / 76–89cm |
| M | US S (4–6) | 26–30″ / 66–76cm | 32–36″ / 81–91cm |
| L | US M (8–10) | 28–32″ / 71–81cm | 34–38″ / 86–97cm |
| XL | US L (12–14) | 30–34″ / 76–86cm | 36–40″ / 91–102cm |
| XXL | US XL (16–18) | 32–36″ / 81–91cm | 38–42″ / 97–107cm |
| XXXL | US XXL (20–22) | 34–38″ / 86–97cm | 40–44″ / 102–112cm |
Because leggings stretch, the ranges overlap. Toward the top of a range you get a firmer, more compressive fit; toward the bottom, a relaxed one. Some individual styles list their own measurements on the product page — where they do, trust those over this general chart.
How to measure yourself
Use a soft fabric tape measure. No tape? Use string, mark it, then hold it against a ruler.
Measure over bare skin or thin underwear, not over clothes. Keep the tape snug but not tight — you should be able to slip one finger underneath.
1. Natural waist
The narrowest part of your torso, usually an inch or so above your belly button. Easy way to find it: bend sideways, and the crease that forms is your natural waist. Stand up straight to measure. Do not hold your breath in.
2. Hips
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, usually 7 to 9 inches below your natural waist. Keep your feet together and the tape level all the way around — it is easy to let it dip at the back.
For leggings, your hip measurement matters more than your waist. The waistband stretches; the hip and thigh area is where a size that is too small fails.
3. Inseam
From the very top of your inner thigh straight down to your ankle bone. This tells you whether full-length leggings will bunch or sit short. Under about 5′3″, expect full-length leggings to gather slightly at the ankle — on most people this looks intentional.
